Night, Navigation and Limited Visibility
While having great visibility and broad daylight is always desirable, it’s foolish to limit your diving to times and places where it exists. Additionally, there are creatures and phenomena you’ll see at night that it’s not possible to witness during the day. Also, if you can’t see your destination, you have to be able to navigate your way to it.
Night and limited visibility diving are similar in that your ability to see is restricted. At night you can communicate with dive lights; limited visibility may require personal contact or other means.
Underwater navigation may involve a lot more than just knowing how to use a compass. Much of the time, you can simply follow bottom contours and distinct landmarks. At other times, you may need to use guideline reels, buddy lines or other tools. We’ll show you how.
Our pool is uniquely equipped to make this course interesting and fun. We get students acclimated, then turn off the lights. The result is a realistic simulation of actual Limited Visibility/Night Diving conditions.
